I'm going to do a valve adjustment check and was wondering for those that have done it, do I really need to loosen the cam chain adjusters to check/adjust the valves. Or is there a short cut or can I at least check the clearances without loosing the chains? Thank You

Assuming you are working on a GL1800. I checked them both ways and found no difference.
