Can the valves be set when the engine is warm?Had valves set last year at shop and while at idle everything sounds ok,but when up and running valves noisy .Checked valves last week and could not get feeler gauge to insert ,even went down to .002 to get in there,so everything was real tight.Any way i adjusted everything to spec and still gets noisy when up and running.Very annoying!

Are you sure it's valve noise and not pinging (detonation, spark knock) my 83 1100 would ping unless I ran 91 octane.
