Here is what happened. I riding on the interstate 75 MPH voltage at 14.1-14.3 stereo on set to speakers in helmet. I switched to the external speakers on the bike and the voltage dropped to 13.9-14.0. I switched back to helmet speakers and voltage at 14.1-14.3. Did this several times to verify it was that. I very rairly use the external speakers but I cant believe they use that much power normally. Can anyone advise?

My LTD will do the same thing. I attribute the drop to the draw of the amplifier/auto volume thingy. As long as your voltage is staying up in the ranges listed, you should never have a problem with the battery. Adding more stuff to the origional charging system is where a lot of problems come from. Have you checked your stator and regulator plugs for discoloration and signs of heat. There is also the option of the poboy alt conversion.

Thanks for the reply. All the updated were done, Hardwire and blade fuses. I just never noticed the voltage drop on the speakers before.

I may be wrong with my understanding of the auto volume, but I think the faster you go the more the amp is going to work to put out more volume.

I checked out your pics. thats a good looking bike. What kind of running lights are those on the front? and what is there wattage?

They are 55w driving lights. I only use them at speed and shut them at traffic lights. They effect the volts at speed less than the radio . Thanks for the compliment I got lucky the PO took good care of it.
