Hello All, I am looking for waterpump assembly for a 1984 Honda Goldwing GL1200. I am trying to rebuild mine and I am have problems fing the mechanical seal that goes between the impeller and the body of the pump. Please PM me if you have an old one sitting around and you don't mind donating it, Thank you.

So far everything I've read says not to try an rebuild the water pump. I'm going to have to change mine this winter so I've been shopping for one. Bets price so far is http://www.ronayers.com/ProductDetails/N/687/SKU/311271

Western Honda has a good reputation, but there shipping was always higher than anybody else. I think the kit that Dave0430 posted is only for the seas and gaskets that you need when replacing the water pump. I don't think there will be anything in it for repairing the water pump itself.

I put together a list of the seals and gaskets you need.

Thanks jwhitmore44, I have the seal kit that has everything I need to do the job except the mechanical seal. The one on ebay that Dave043 post looks to have the mechanical seal. However I emailed the seller to give me the measurements of the seal to make sure it will fit the 84 GL1200 waterpump. The mechanical seal that is mentioned throughout this forum is for GL1000 and GL1100. The seal 19217-657-023 which is for the honda CX500 will not fit the 84 GL1200.



I found a manufacturing company overseas that makes the Mechanical seals to fit the 84 GL1200 waterpump, however I have to purchase 500 units. If I can find one to test my rebuild, I might offer my service to rebuild other GL1200 owners waterpumps for them at a fraction of the cost of a new pump. The process is fairly simple to do, I am surprised that Honda doesn't offer to sell the mechanical seal to the general public.
