I have recommended the CD MOTO parts manual. I really like using it on my computer and have both the 1200 and 1500 disks. Today I attempted to use the 1200 parts program and found it wouldn't work, it just gave me the message "the usage period for this program has expired". I don't think it's fair to sell software that has a time limit for use once you've purchased it. I didn't see anything when I purchased it that it was only usable for a specified period.

This is an edit to saythe vendor of the above product was helpful in getting it to work again. The anti-piracy scheme on this disk is a pain in the arse and to me reduces it's value somewhat. If you should lose Internet access or the vendor change his HOTMAIL address the product will eventually become useless. For this reason I can no longer recommend this product.

exavid, I'm with you. Can you install it on another computer, then print it out?

No, there's a tricky anti- piracy system on these disks, when I changed hard drives I had to contact the guy to get a code to reinitiate it. I've got an email in to him but don't see him on eBay so don't know if he's still in business. It sure is irritating, the program was good, better than a microfiche.

Hi Exavid,

I had the same problem with my GL1500 version. After about a year, I got the same message. This is also a re-occuring theme on the GWRRA website.

After anumber of un-returned e-mails, I located this guy on Ebay. I started warning a few potential bidders of the problem, and I finally got a response from him. He claimed it was a glitch in the security part of the software. He had me uninstall the software, download another CDMOTO microfiche for the GL1500 from the internet, then install another security key. That has solve the problem to date.

This is his e-mail: [email protected]

This is his Ebay user name: motopartscd

It seemse-mail is the only way to contact him. He is located down around Miami, but I could never trace a phone number. Keep e-mailing him. It took many repeated e-mails to finally get a response. Granted,TERRIBLE customer service, but eventually he will respond.

Thanks for the heads up on this guy, I have been looking at a CD from him, I noticed it states,

"Never again you order wrong parts, costing valuable time and money. Digital technology lets you locate parts, view images, and zoom in for a closer look without ever typing a single part number".

That Never again suggest it will not expire. He will not get my money. :clapper:

L8ndeb's posting about being able to reinstall it was right. I did get an email answer from the guy and he gave me info about reinstalling it. I'm not completely happy with the deal, I don't like the protection scheme, I had to contact the guy last winter when I changed hard drives. If you had several programs that required this it would be unmanageable. The progam is a good working one and I do like it. I will edit my previous post to say be careful with the anti piracy scheme. I don't think the guy is unethical and the product is a good one except for this glitch.

I wish I had seen this before I bought one from him. I bid on one on ebay, but was out bid. The auction went for $33. He contacted me and offered me one for my bid of $12. I am not out a lot of money, but we will see.

I havent received the product yet. We will see...

As I said, the program is worth the price. I wouldn't have a problem with it if it weren't for the anti-piracy method. I don't think the guy would lose many sales if he didn't have the system on the disk. I will say he answered my email quickly this time, but I'd rather have a phone number or something more permanent than a hotmail address to contact him.

I bought one from him and his anti piracy scheme is more of a "psych" game. You need the code for the install and extraction. But in my case it deposited a Pdf file in the directory which I just burned onto a cd. The Pdf requires Adobe Acrobat. Check your directory and run the Pdf by itself.

MY copy came today. I did the install, and it does seem to be just a pdf. I backed up the pdf just in case.

It does seem thorough. To me, it seems more like the 'sploded diagrams are worth the twelve bucks.

Nope, tried that, the .pdf file itself comes up with the expiration screen. It looks like the thing will crash after a year's use. Tried to fool it by changing my computer clock and date back and restarting but no joy.

Your right just tried mine and it isn't working either. He is using some scripting within Acrobat.

One way to pressure him, is to notify him that HE is the pirate since I'm sure that Honda didn't give him permission to use the material. I make the assertion because of the poor quality of the scans and organization. Big companies spend big bucks to do this and it looks accordingly. Maybe Honda will buy one and under DCMA its now hard time.

Also notify Ebay and they'll cut him off to or under DCMA they are liable.

It seems a bit cheeky for a guy ripping off Honda manuals to write an anti-piracy script into his pirated CD's!

OK I think I know whats going on. He is using FOPN_fLock which is a password encryption mechanism that is used in some ebooks. But for every electronic lock there is a pick. I'm looking for the solution from whence it came, the Warez community of pirates.
They use utilities that they create to parse passwords and open the files. You just have to Google it. Keywords FOPN_fLock, Pdf crack.

For those of you that have a functioning version that you would like to save in a stable format, you should extract the contents from that file and export into a .doc file or create a new Pdf. I used to be up on this a few years and version ago, but I found wrenching to be more interesting. There are numerous programs for doing the above. I'll post info on them when I can remember and I'll post the crack when I find it.

I doubt eBay will do anything. I notified them of a guy who was selling Honda Service manuals that were actual scans of the Honda book but I didn't see any action from eBay. I can't say they didn't do anything though since with the huge amount of stuff on their site it might not be possible to react to copyright infringement and scams very rapidly without a staff of hundreds of thousands.

I looked for a crack on the newsgroups and the ru crack sites but didn't find anything specific to this. When I go to those sites I use an old computer I have with Linux OS to help prevent picking up all the porn crap and viri!

I saw this post and have been having the same problem. Partscd guy says he is not related to CDmoto. Neither one answers e-mails unless you send it about 50 times in a row to catch his attention. Very disgusted and what poor business practice. I guess the only thing timely is paying for the product. Lets boycott these crappy business people. They do not deserve our money!
