I agree, there are several carb solvents that will attack the rubber parts like the air cut off diaphragms. I rebuilt one set of carbs that had air cut off valve diaphragms that had turned in to black gunk. It would be a lot worse if someone used solvents like that on a 1200's CV slides. Ruining the CV slide diaphragms would be pretty bad news.
