If it's oil...I'd pull it and try again. Did you torque the three bolts holding the water pump on the cover correctly? That's what seals the pump against oil leakage (unless it's leaking THROUGH the pump, in which case you've got a different problem altogether).

Unfortunately it's not going to fix itself. Looks like it's time for a do-over.You probably pinched the the o-ring on the install. You can get just the one from Honda, which will save you from having to buy the entire kit again. If you didn't before, try coating the o-rings with Vaseline on the install and as MacLean says, check the torque.

Old crush washers on the pump mount, should have new ones torqued correctly? Pinched smaller o ring on the pump? Bad shaft on the pump itself? One of the three is causing your problem.

The 3 aluminum washers on those bolts are critical. That is where my money would be.

Had the Exact same issue when I replaced my pump. Got it sealed on the 3rd. try. First time I bought the widely available gasket kits on the web. Third time I bought OEM from Honda Direct. In my opinion only, the "O"rings seemed thicker and of better quality and the "crush" washers the same. I'll stick with all OEM parts from now on with anything internal. Used vaseline to hold everything in place and haven't leaked a drop since. A few extra bucks is worth it for all the labor involved in dismantling and cleaning a couple times.

Am including a j-peg of where the leak might be coming from. Also, another suspect spot is the crush washers like others have indicated.

Good Luck!!!

I ordered my kit from Crescent Moon, but just for added assurance, I bought my 3 crush washers from Honda (via BikeBandit). Also, after pulling my pump, I saw this:

After seeing this, I didn't even try to put it back together (no use frustrating myself). I went to eBay and got a used housing. In the meantime, I spent some quality time straightening out radiator fins, one at a time.

Good luck.
