On the side of a mountain we found a nice spot under some trees on the banks of the Rio Grande. She pitched a tent. We stayed there four days. We rode over two passes in second gear to get to Lake City for lunch. Thunderstorms came in so we waited on the front porch talking to the locals. Rode back over through eight inches of snow and falling sleet. It was June. June where I'm from is HOT.
Apparently not up there. She said "Pull over so I can take a picture." Pull over? Pull over where? I stopped in the middle of the road and she snapped a shot.

Our tent was 100 yards from where we'd left it.

I wish I had a picture of me dragging bundles of firewood back to camp with the bike. Classic. She needed to pee every morning but wouldn't get up until she smelled coffee.
The bike was glazed in ice every morning so I started and ran it for a half hour.

We could have taken my little sports car and stayed in motels. No way would I have done that.
