Wearing the gear

I've learned a lot this summer about just how much protection you get from good riding gear. Any one of our incidents could easily have resulted in hospitalization if we hadn't been wearing the protective gear.

My daughter and I have been taking advanced riding instruction at a local track.

We've each gone down twice at speeds of 25 - 50 mph. All were "low sides" where for whatever reason a tire loses traction and slides out from under you. No injuries excluding some bruises and a dislocated finger that popped back into place when I removed my glove.

For the track we're wearing full racing leathers, boots, gauntlet style gloves, and snug fitting full face helmets.

I've become an avid supporter of protective gear and thought I'd share this in the hope it might push someone else towards using the excellent protective gear available to motorcycle riders.

I know its easy to say when I don't live in the hotter climes that some of you guys do and sometimes I break my own rules just to nip round the corner, but - "All the gear all the time."

I am not ever planning to have a spill, but you never know, and like they say, sweat washes off, gravel rash doesn't.

That's the reason we started our Internet business in the first place...

I had a life long friend, a guy I grew up with who died simply because he couldn't afford proper protection....:(

Had he been wearing it he would still be here with us today.

Ticked me off, I've priced motorcycle gear to the point of insanity. My wife and I decided to go directly to the manufacturer and made some pretty good deals, and we make diddly squat on our sales... Motorcycle leather and accessories doesn't exist to provide us with a living, it is there so EVERYONE who rides can have protection... And we feel if you buy a jacket for protection, it damn well better protect you... That is why we do not make a living with our site, some month's it cost's us just to have it, but anyone who can afford gas can pretty much afford our gear.....

OK, I will admit that it don't say Harley Davidson on it anywhere, but that's why Bevan died, he couldn't afford a $4OO.OO Jacket, or a $500.00 helmet, or $300.00 boots... Admit idly at that time the Internet wasn't so available, you had to rely on stores that were available where ever you were, and I've seen some pretty cheap stuff on line, but we don't sell that stuff..........................

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread, I just get worked up when I see people riding unprotected, A California man died here just last week, Had he been wearing a helmet, he would just be sore today, not dead
