Weekend on the BRP

Lois and I cranked up the vette and headed for the BRP. About half way thru the gorge on I-40 going to Ashville about 30 "Outlaws" passed us in formation. Those next to the double yellow lines were really close and didin't bother to move over. But they were traveling a lot faster than us and were gone soon enough. We spent Friday noght at Little Switzerland Inn about 30 miles North of Ashville on the BRP. The weather was perfect and the scenery was gorgeous. The mountain laurel was still in bloom and sections of the BRP were covered with pinkish white pedals. The Inn has a seafood and prime rib buffet which was delicious. Saturday morning found us in Ashville downtown looking for a resturant Lois wanted to find. Well, we found it; and so did about a million other people. Remind us not to go into any towns on National Holidays! We got out of Ashville fast and headed South on the BRP to Pisgah Inn atop Pisgah mountain. Mr. and Mrs. Bagmaster,Ray and Tracy came up from Hendersonville and met us. We had a great time visiting, talking about our bikes, the great rides in the area and whether or not Mel and Sandy were on their way back home yet. We visited until Bagmaster's back got the best of him and they headed back tothe Blueridge Campground. Sunday morning wewoke up to rain. A quick breakfast and wewere off to visit Lake Lure. The Vette handled the twisty road just fine but I was secretly wishing I was on my bike. On our way home the "Outlaws" passed us again as we were going thru the gorge. The highlight of the trip was getting the opportunity to meet Bagmaster, his wonderful wife; and of course Ray and Tracy, who were celebrating their wedding anniversary. I hope that everyone had as good a weekend as we did. Friendships were made as well as fond memories. I have to say it is good to be back home. I got to get in about 100 miles on "Raymond"; some of it in the rain.We are having a soft rain now so I will get some things done before bed. Ride Safe!

... Sounds like you had a great time Bernie.

I'm jealous :cheeky1:, had to work at the salt mine today.

Well, had I known you were going to Lake Lure we would've rode down with ya but as it was we got a late start home because of the same rain. I did stop at the Honda dealer in Hendersonville and order the springs I needed for the 1500 driver pegs I put on my 1100.

Here's Bernie and Ray at the Pisgah Inn. I was really down in my back by this time and didn't get any shots of Bernie and me.

Mike,

It was great meeting you and the Missus; also Ray and his Missus! Great folks too many great stories for the short amount of time we had together. Maybe we will see each other on a PGR mission one day!
