What are the lights on either side of my GL1500 headlights?

I purchased my first Gold Wing in late January, getting used to her slowly. One thing that is puzzling me is the lights on either side of my headlight.

The lights are under clear lenses just like the headlights are, located between the headlights and turn signals. When I am off the bike, looking at it they are not on, have not found a switch that activates them. Are they running lights that engage while moving?

They are called Position lights. Yes they are running lights and should be on when your bike is running.

I converted my 97' SE position lights to LED a couple of years ago.

If this site was not so cumbersome I could find my post on that.

Your bulbs are probably burnt out, the whole headlight assembly needs to come out to change the bulbs. They are 194 base type.

I had amber LED's in those spots for a while. They were not real brite, but gave the set an amber glow. I now have whites in there again, but will put brighter amber LED's in next time I decide to buy them.
They run with the headlight system.
