Removed most of my Tupperware Today

1995 GL1500 SE 20th Anniversary Model with 34,800 miles.

I bought this wing, two weeks ago and have spent the interim riding, observing and just learning my way around the bike. (My last 2-bikes were Harleys so wings are new to me). My first order of business was to change the oil which I did last week.

I have also been looking at "Wing Porn" as my wife calls it. Chrome, Maintenance Advice, Chrome, several "How to" videos, more Chrome and have invested in a Clymer manual for my particular bike. Did I mention Chrome....?

Anyway, today I pulled off all of the plastic panels I could, removed the ignition cover, top cover, seat. Sprayed down the pieces, cargo areas and internal frame with simple green and rinsed. Cleaned out the mouse nest, droppings (which grossed out my wife) and bits of foam rubber residing in the air filter housing. I just happened to have ordered a new air filter last night before opening up the housing today, glad I did. A piece of hardware cloth, fabbed to cover the inlet should prevent this issue in the future.

I have also ordered new plugs, additional oil filters, replacement chrome for those pieces corroded over the years. Tomorrow I am off to the auto parts store for a new fuel filter. Then on to reassembly, cleaning and polishing each piece before it goes back on the bike.

FM ...
THAT'S SCARY YOU NEVER HEARD A THING!!

I'm checking rear rim every ride now..
No squeal, no growl, nut'n.

CHECK? Yah me too, but I think it would be every gas stop using my toe to move the wheels sideways... if possible.

SO-so many things to check every ride. Seems like a pre-flight check for aircraft.
Is there time left to ride?

:sadguy:

Looked at it, saw the rear wheel missing, looked at front pegs, came back in house where it's cool.

Rode it too. Its amazing how when you've ridden a motorcycle and then can't for awhile due to kids, finances, job or whichever reason. Then you get a chance to return to riding and cherish every mile because you've missed it so much.
Ditto again!

I put my spare rec/reg on to fix my charging issue. I noticed the bike was not charging a few times after long rides. And sometimes the volts were up to 15V.

I'll ride God willing tomorrow maybe I'll go 3-4 hundred just for fun.

Quit braggin' GFG !
Mine is still waitin'for parts ! LOL! Ride safe, friend!

Wildrat,
Why is your rear wheel missing ?

Airtex fuel pump conversion on the 87I to replace the clattering clicking problem child of a stock pump till I can afford to buy an OEM. Then treated myself to a pair of inexpensive highway pegs and installed.

BTW the bike idles a hell of alot better and this one doesn't cycle nearly as fast as the old pump, a filter was done prior to this with no change to the idle.

Going cruisin' tomorrow!

As far As I can tell no CT will fit a 1200. Only rumors that one did one time and it was some VW tire but no one knows what tire that was.
