Reset the torque on '12 steering bearings to 18ft lbs just to see what that was like.
18ft lbs was way too much for this particular '12 Wing.

I thought it was at approx. 15ft lbs before i set it to 18.

Reset to 15.5ft lbs and is a little more tension feel and fish scale pull than it was at 15 and is pretty good now.
0.5ft lb really makes a difference.
I installed the new bearings 31500 miles ago.. Time flies. Now i wish i would have at have at least pulled the top bearing and regreased it.

I understand every bike is a little different so your torque might vary to get satisfactory results.

Too much torque on 88 Wing sucked and harder to work on than this '12 if memory serves me right.

My 1500 is getting on a bit now, today I treated her a little....
Ordered a new passenger pocket lid - the hinge had snapped and the lid flew away on the motorway.
Did my usual 80 mile round trip to work.
Had the back end hang out coming out of a couple of roundabouts.
Ordered a replacement stereo as mine won't open the cassette lid (or play anything at a volume that can be heard with the bike running) - temporarily fitted a Bluetooth module to the amplifier.
Ordered a new LCD as mine has leaked badly over the summer.
Ordered one of those gear lever mods that's supposed to reduce sloppiness (I think getting a bush made might be a better solution though)
Picked up some parts that were painted (left lowers and trunk lower spoiler) colour match is rubbish and it's really noticeable to me. (Which idiot in Honda decided the lowers should be steel???).
3D printed the missing plastic trim that pushes on behind the side indicators.
Fitted a stainless steel cable to the pannier lid to replace the broken original.

EDIT: Hi guys! I finished my project on sounding and lighting the motorcycle's reverse gear;) I needed: So that when the REAR gear is turned on with the lever, the Goldwing reverse light turns on and the sound buzzer turns on;) I took the power from the reverse limit switch. The rear of the road is now brightly illuminated when reverse is engaged and a short intermittent beep sounds. Don't ask me why I did it, it's just winter, the motorcycle is in the garage and I'm bored

[QUOTE = "Nitrowing, message: 5956752, member: 86788"]

My 1500 is now recovering a little, today I did a little work ... I ordered a new cover for the passenger pocket - the loop broke and the cover flew onto the track.

Made my usual 80 mile round trip to work. Had the back hang out, coming out of a couple of roundabouts.

I ordered a replacement stereo system, since mine does not open the cassette lid (and does not play anything with a volume that can be heard when the bike is running) - temporarily installed a Bluetooth module in the amplifier.

I ordered a new LCD, as mine has leaked badly over the summer. Ordered one of those gear lever modifications that should reduce sloppiness (although I think making a bushing might be the best solution)

Picked up some parts that were painted (lower left and lower trunk spoiler), the color matches the debris and I really notice it. (What idiot in Honda decided the undersides should be steel ???).

The missing plastic overlay is 3D printed that adjoins the side direction indicators.
Attached a stainless steel cable to the basket lid to replace the broken original.

it has been a good long while, I bought my '98SE in Tampa, FL and rode thru a lot of different Wx conditions, followed the coast a bit, thru Houston down to Corpus Christi, TX where I stayed with a friend for a week....

lots of fun, they had a nice 5th wheel in the back yard, and I was in la la land, they had work schedules, so I just toured all over the Corpus area, saw the big Navy Cruiser docked, wish I had toured it.

Drifted on up through San Antonio, TX to El Paso, TX ( man that was a long, wet, ride.... wore those yellow Frogg Toggs the whole trip..... )

found a warm room with a shower,

then next day, rode from El Paso, TX to home in Mesa, AZ the next day.....
left at Oh Dark Thirty, and got home at Midnight in la la land..... tired, but the bike on Cruise is a Dream.

Much more comfortable than the 1800 I just gave to my son.

I finally got around to taking my rear tire off. It would t have been so bad if it wasn't for the tow part and, the chrome bits and bobs.
No lift table so, I improvised. Getting g it back together is going to be the fun part.

I'm going darkside.

Also, nevermind my channel locks on the lift. That handle has been lost for years

Nothing today but thinking about last weekend. Me and 5 other friends rode from Tampa to St Augustine. Not a long trip by miles, but we took our sweet time on 2 lane highways and stopped here and there for scenery and an extended lunch at a FL renowned cafe intended for adults. Did a big loop around Jacksonville on day 2 where we attempted to pay respects at Ronnie Van Zant's grave, but they had just moved him last month. Last day, we rode A1A down through Daytona (bike week hadn't started yet thankfully) and then on home. Was a good weekend.

I filled it with gas! These days, that's an event.
5.28 Gallons @ $4.499 per, resulting in the most I've ever paid for a fill-up in the bike.
The good news is the price at Safeway dropped 10 cents since yesterday.
