What would you use an FM transmitter for?

You can plug an iPod into an FM transmitter, and listen to the iPod over the FM radio.

I have one on my bike but it doesn't transmit through the air. It hooks inline with my radio antenna. When it is on, it bypasses my antenna and lets me listen to my MP3 player through the radio. When off, I listen to the FM radio as normal. Called an FM Modulator. I like it better than the transmitter because I don't get as much interference from radio stations.
