Anything going on in Texas? I am from the Houston area. I am hoping to have my bike ready for a good couple hour trip. I want to start off small and then go on longer rides.

Hey Conley! :waving: There are a few of us in the Houston and surrounding areas. I would love to get a group together for a ride. :action:

Howdy Jerry! yeah, friendswood isn't too far from me for sure. If you know where Pecan Lakes/Pecan Grove is, that is where I live.

We need to get together for sure. Where are the good riding roads around here?

Unfortunately, IMHO, the best roads are anywhere away from Houston.:D My wife and I went to Kerrville in March...that was an awesome ride.
Around here, I like Hwy 35 through West Columbia and out towards I-10. Haven't really been north too much. A few weeks ago a buddy and I rode 288 down to Surfside and took the Blue Water Highway to Galveston. That wasn't a bad ride. I have also ridden Hwy 105 from Conroe towards Brenham and that was a nice ride. :action:

I would love to get together for a group ride. One of my favorites is 6 up to Navasota, 105 to Brenham then 36 back to the Richmond-Rosenberg area. So Blue Water Highway is open again? Tried to go from Galveston to Freeport that way a couple of months ago and it was still closed, good to know its available again.

Yep. It's open and fixed up pretty good. Nice ride if you don't mind the strong gulf winds and sea salt.:action:

Well I see in another thread that Conley has his front end in pieces so I guess we couldn't get anything going this weekend.:D How about next Saturday? Next Sundays no good for me, I'll be taking my CHL renewal class.

Man! I was just checking my work schedule and it seems my dance card is very full. :(I am off Sunday July 5th (working a night shift on the 4th), and possibly Sat/Sun July 11th and 12th (if we don't go out of town). Dang shift work! Guess I'm just lucky to have a job. We are now short 2 people in my department and the rest of us are pulling double duty 24/7. I really hate that work is cutting into my riding time! :D:action:

Harleygirl and I can't make it...but we are going to try to make Eureka Springs the week before :action:. Just put in for vacation for that week.

Like Jerry said the best roads are the ones outside Houston.
I will be going up to Lake Livingston for 4th of July weekend. There are a some nice roads to ride up there. 190 has lots of scenery and a 67 foot statue of Sam Houston in Huntsville.

Can't make it to Montrose, but I am hoping to get to Eureka Springs.

Hey there Pan. Good to hear from you! :waving:I still think we should try to get everyone in the area out for a weekend ride, like Chief said. There are quite a few members in our little corner of the world and it would be nice to meet some of them.:action:

There is a CMA meet every 1st Saturday at the Luby's in Katy. they eat and then go for a few hour ride. I may make the July 4th one. I am still trying to get wifey on the back with me.

Austin is pretty central. How about we meet and greet in Austin and then ride for a bit? I am thinkging sometime after July or august for that though. It gets pretty hot around that time.

Austin not a bad ride for us up here in El Norte Texas. Since I grew up in north Houston (Aldine/Humble area)I know first hand the best roads in Houston are the ones leading the way out of Houston. Go out 59 North up into East Texasare pretty nice roads with some small rolling hills. Maybe a get together in the hill country in Aug wouldn't be too bad. Carol and I will be E.S. this fall.

There is a movie theater out in Hockley that is pretty nice.... http://theshowboatdrivein.com/movies.html .... that this weekend is playing Star Trek and Transformers 2. I think it is like $5.00 for both movies. The snack bar has decent food too. There are a few slow paced twisting roads out that way as well. Not sure who likes to ride at night after a movie lets out after midnight, but I was just thinking of some roads close by and the drive in came to mind. I think I am going to go see the movies playing Saturday night. ( I will be in the truck. wing won't seat 5 )

I am always up for a ride to Austin (although my wing does NOT like going through Prairie View.... over heated twice going through there on 2 separate trips)but it will take someone more local to set it up.

I am jsut tossing out a possible place to meet. I am sure others have their favorite local rides for the day.......
