whats the purpose of this plug,I accidently unscrewed and about half a cup of oil came out which smelled like motor oil. Its the plug next or close to the coolant drain plug and the plug has a allen head.

Welcome to the forum, Horseboy. That plug has come up a number of times, mostly when someone accidently removes it in an attempt to drain the engine oil. As I recall, it is an access hole into the oil pump area. Not really sure of the exact benefit. However, the cavity inside will hold some oil that does not drain normally, but if drained, will immediately refill when engine is started--assuming there is fresh oil in the engine. Just replace it and tighnen it up a bit and have no worries.

Yeah its just a cap added at the production stage. Only time you would use it is when dismantling the pump to get the oil out.
