Wheel off, new front tire

I took my front wheel off to have a new tire put on. When I picked up the wheel from the bike shop, I remembered a post where someone mentioned polishing their wheel so I decided to give it a shot.

It by no means turned out like chrome but it looks much better and will hopefully be easier to clean. Before & after pics below...

Not yet. Just wax for now. I'm not totally happy with the result. It looks much better but could use a little more elbow grease. There is still some pitting that I would like to get ride of. Just didn't want to have too much down time with this great weather.

I will be pulling it back off in the winter to change timing belts so I'll do some more polishing and clear coat it then if I'm happy with the result.
