Goes to show you the leniency of California laws.
The driver that injured (not killed) a rider and passenger in Texas in 2015 was just sentenced to 15 years for aggravated assault.

Oklahoma recently ( a year or two ago ) made a fatality/DUI a felony and subject to Life mandatory

the "I didn't see them" is not as clear yet, we have several of those in the court process right now

I have to wonder if the sentence would have been any different had it been a bicyclist or pedestrian.

I have to agree with the second poster on the site when he basically asks, how would the case been handled had she used a gun, instead of a car?

To me, this is clearly a first degree murder case that was plea-bargained down in order to save the state the cost of prosecuting it.
