Well about six weeks ago on the way from Jax to VIR the Little Darlin' developed a slight miss while on level ground at a constant speed. It kinda came and went for about five weeks. Then one day under full throttle (my favorite grip position) it developed a very bad miss. I just pulled the coils and both primaries test at .6 ohms against a spec of .4 +/- .04. Thats a little out but I'm not alarmed. One of the secondaries was at the top of 16.7K +/- 1.67K but the other was off the scale somewhere around 18 meta ohms. Given this I'm gonna get another set. I'll consider a used pair if my local recycler has them within spec, but would prefer something new since used 26 year old parts don't have much appeal.

Have you put a set of aftermarket on your baby? Who made them? Were they difficult to mount?

THANKS!!!

ITs GREAT TO FIX TWO THINDS AT ONCE.

My Little Darlin had a coil go bad recently. After considering aftermarket replacements I decided to go with a used one. Certainly cheaper, $25.00 vs $150.00+, and you don't risk putting in something thats not compatible with the Spark Box. The used coil had the proper secondary winding resistance of 16.7K ohms +/- 10% where the old one was around 15M ohms. With the new coil all the performance issues went away with another problem gone. Seems the bad connection in the coil was causing arcing and the bad resistance measurement. Now that the arcing is gone all the NOISE IN MY HEADSET IS GONE ALSO.

My, My! Improved performance and clean tunes, time to go for a ride.

See Ya on the Highway!!!
