I own too many, I ride a 95 that's been heavily customized but brings back too many memories of all the times I had Mollie along, it's been parked since july, currently rebuilding a 93 into a show bike, but I have high hopes of buying a GL1800 next spring. Never rode one yet, seems like it's about time to move up from the 1500, of the 1200 and 1100 bikes, they just sit in storage for now, they run, they can be ridden with a small amount of maintenance.
I think my daily ride is going to be my 85 Vmax for awhile, or the 89 Yamaha Venture Royale.

Well, daily ride means after winter like mid may.

ImageUploadedByMO Free1420303054.585243.jpg . Ok here is my question....hope I am in the right place! How different exactly is a 1500 or 1800 from my 1979 GL 1000. Am thinking of getting a newer wing (and immortalizing my '79) and wonder whether I will be able to handle a newer wing. I have air shocks on my 1979 so I can almost touch flat footed on both sides.

I ride a 76 GL1000 that I've put around 30,000 miles in 6 years. I also have a 98 GL1500SE that I'm rebuilding after it and it's PO hit a moose.

I like my 76 for it's simplicity.

Some one asked if there was no Gold Wing what would you ride, CB750! I've owned a 71, 73 & 77.

Bud.

I've had lots of bikes by different manufacturers (Honda, Bultaco, Yamaha, H-D, Kawasaki) but like the GL1500 I'm riding now the best so far.
I upgraded recently from an 86 1200 Aspencade and this one fits me and the style of riding that I want to do better than any other.

I have owned a 1200, 1500, and an 1800 the 1800 has more bells and whistles but all three were great and dependable. I do ride often. I live in SC so I can ride all year mostly. Here are some photos .

finally got a picture of Big Bird

for those who look close, there is a 7" Garmin 2797 GPS attached to the windscreen with the Garmin vacuum mount. That mount has never turned loose in over 4,000 miles and 8 weeks since I hung it there. It has safety tethers attached though. Just in case.

Love having that big ole 7" screen available up higher like that. I can glance at it w/o loosing sight of the road.
