Not much to say except the white helmet is a lot cooler in the sun than black. The paint scratches easy but I carry white nail polish and touch it up. I think its harder than paint.

My wife uses white nail polish to repair the bath tubs in her motel. Great idea, I like it

Red and I havefelt for years thatwhite helmets were noticeably cooler in the heat ..... also more visible, I think, especially more visible than black or blue.....

I'm wearing a light silver now, because the brand of helmet I now prefer doesn't do plain white.... or didn't when I bought it.....

Only drawback with a white helmet on a Goldwing is that motorists think you are a cop, and slow down in front of you all the time....as if (if you were a cop) you couldn't see all the brake lights go on. Kinda funny.

I've noticed the same thing. I made the switch from red to a light grey and the difference was significant.

Also, made the change from a black glove to a grey mesh glove that is cow hide in the palm and under side of the fingers. I could feel my hands get hot when the temp gets into the 80's on a clear day. The grey gloves really helped.

I agree with the white helmet/cop relationship, the only thing is the cops don't fall for it.

Jack; do you feel the silver has any cooling affect, sounds worse than black.

Microwaves should be black inside.....would that heat twice as nice?

Nailpolish is great stuff. I remember using it as a kid in little league being a catcher, on my thumb (red hardner) to keep my thumb nail from cracking.......(Or at least i hope that's why the coach said to wear it....)

Silver should be cool. They make reflective roof coatings in white and silver.

I ride a white bike with a white helmet and super bright HID headlights, people pull over when I come up behind them. Imagine if I had headlight modulators.:cheeky1:

I think some of us cut physics class. No wondering here. Dark colors attract the sun, lighter colors repel it.

Now your trying to take all the fun out it ... :D

I read somewhere that after black ... red draws the most heat from the sun. Does that have anything to do withred being the fastest color? :D

I've had a silver helmet for years. Unless its crazy hot out, I really dont notice my head getting hot.

Haven’t read where anybody disagreed that light colors are cooler than dark ones.

White helmet. Love the folks moving out of the HOV lane that don't have any passengers, just hoping that "I did not notice them" :waving:

I love my white helmet...............just had a heck of a time finding one the shelf. Nobody stocks them!! You can get a black one anywhere you look though!

My next helmet is going to be white. Then I am going to paint a solid blue band around the lower part of it.

No logos, just the blue band.

Some days the silver 3/4 helmet with boom mike for the intercom and headlight mod. is like Moses parting the red sea. when I drive through traffic.
other days it like painting a target on my self.
