Hello again,
Just a little follow-up regarding my white smoke issue...
Pulled the plugs today, and all 4 plugs are wet with coolant.
Not sure where this leaves me now...trying to figure out the
commonality between both sides...is there possibly a gasket on the cross-over pipe that might be the issue??
Anyone out there ever have this coolant on all 4 plugs before??
Thank you.
Regards,
Rick Porter

Well Rick, my guess is that leaves you with doing head gaskets (or at least pulling it down that far to see), as there is no commonality for that aside from both sides failing for some reason, and beingindependent of one side to the other I'd say you drew the luck of the draw. There is no coolant running through that factory carb set-up.

Do a compression test on the engine cold. If that is suspect for any reason, do a leak-down test and watch the coolant in your radiator for signs of air. You may see something on a compression test that negates doing a leak-down test.

Essentially, you're going to pressure-up the combustion chambers and see if anything is leaking past the head gaskets and getting into either the oil or the coolant.
