Who has a J&M system?

The stock audio system on my bike (Clarion I) doesnt work and I am not inclined to mess with it anymore. Not worth the headachefor me to refurb a 26 year old, unneccessarily complex audio system. I want to begin doing some long distance riding with other Goldwingers and want the ability to communicate with my group and with my wife. I understand CB is the prevalent medium in which people communicate on the road. I am considering a J&M handlebar mounted system with cb/intercom/weather channel. I would also like to be able to line in a sat radio system if possible. Any advice on the J&M from current owners or any less expensive alternatives. I don't want to buy junk and hear buzzing all day so I wont buy a super cheap system but something a little less than $400.00 would be nice!

I am currently using the J&M system on my 1500. It integrated into the existing audio system; all I had to do was plug into the harness (no splicing, etc.) The CB is wonderful and it is very helpful to have the NOAA weather for alerts etc. The hand controls are easy to use even while operating the clutch. The only problem I had with the system is that while turning very sharply in a parking lot, I knocked the volume control off the unit when it touched the windshield. J&M fixed it at no charge. I found the price cheaper than finding all the stock components. I have not looked at what they offer for the 1100 and how it would integrate.

I have the J&M on my Valkyrie and other than having about 6 feet too much of cable that I had to coil and wire tie it works ok. My riding buddy also has a J&M and we have to use the low power setting or transmissions are garbled more. I'd rather have the CB integral to the bike but this one works on a bike that didn't have that option.

I've got a J & M system that is integrated with the CB. Not working right at this time but I'm at a rally and Sierra Electronics is here with full service available, so I will see them tomorrow and see what they say.

I originally put a J&M CB2003 on my wife's Yamaha Roadstar and have since moved it to her GL1500 Trike. The volume control has gotten erratic at low volume, but J&M said to send it in and they will repair it. Only disadvantage to J&M unit is that is uses different connectors than the regular 5-pin DIN on stock Honda setup.

As far as the 1500 is concerned, J&M has a unit that plugs directly to the stock Honda 1500 setup with no change to connectors; still use the 5 pin DIN.
