And you see a problem with this? :wtf:
NOT AT ALL.

Look at all the outrage when there is a school shooting & I completely understand it.

But now look at this from M.A.D.D.

Every day in America, another 27 people die as a result of drunk driving crashes. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration FARS data, 2012.

Where is any outrage with this? :lash: I believe that if you are convicted of DUI, you should lose your licence - END of story, & never get it back. Driving is a privilege NOT a right.

Great news.

Here in British Columbia if your bridge tolls "We don't have road tolls" are over $25 and you don't pay them you can't get the Government mandated vehicle insurance and can't renew your drivers licence.

It's nice to see that our insurance Company? has added bill collecting to their mandate.

It was the NDP that started this but the Liberals saw it as a cash cow and ran with it.

Right now we're stuck between a rock and a hard place.:lash:

Mine is good till I'm 65. Picture is already more than 10 years old, nothing has been said. There is a catch to that lifetime license. If you get any tickets, you have to take the test every 2 or 4 years. I had a CDL, but lost it a few years ago, because I was unable to pass the physical. Actually glad I don't have it anymore, it made getting stopped by a cop far more serious.

Here both Geico and Progressive (and probably a lot of others) contribute huge amounts of money to traffic enforcement. It's an incentive to hire more cops to write more tickets so they can raise your premiums, AND, being donated to the guvment, it is tax deductible. We also have a quasi legal organization called the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) that is clearly in bed with the guvment. They spend billions lobbying for stricter traffic laws and enforcement.

I wish they did this in the USA. A sober person hit my car, and because they had no insurance, it cost me over $500.00. No recourse for me, but to pay. The other guy got off scott free. Driving while drunk should carry a very stiff penalty.
A good reason to have uninsured motorist coverage.

That's the first thing the trooper asks you for when he pulls you over for doing 20MPH in a 60MPH zone.:readit:
Not when I'm driving my Jeep uphill. Then if they stop me they just say, "four cylinder, huh?"

I just renewed mine today and guess where?

Here in the fiefdom of British Columbia Canada I had to go to ICBC (Insurance Corporation of British Columbia) which is a Crown Corporation meaning that the Gubernment has little control over it other than seeing that the books balance.

This is the same Crown Corporation that is ripping off motorcycle owners for insurance.

This is the same Crown Corporation that is spending billions of dollars paid for insurance on road improvements(?).

This is the same Crown Corporation that is spending billions of dollars paid for insurance on traffic enforcement.

I hope none of your Gubernments go down this slippery slop in the name of saving you money like ours did.

Vent over.
I do remember the day... back in the day....life was good ..except for the pimples:)..I was happy with my bike insurance.. it was so long ago am not sure what bike I was riding but we did have private insurance for vehicles ... then one day the powers that be :lash:said:3wisemonkeys: it was taking over the vehicle insurance:wtf: yes we needed saving from those big bad nasty insurance people that were making just to much money and they wanted all the action for themselves (THEY DID WORD IT SLIGHTLY DIFFERENTLY)the "Mob calls it "strong-arming" ..the result..bike insurance that is one of the highest in Canada

A few years ago Gordo promised to allow private insurance companies to compete with ICBC.

Well he did keep his promise sort of as you can now get extended coverage through private companies but the compulsory part only available from ICBC at $1,500+ a year before discounts if you get any still hurts.

I have 9 vehicles registered and insured. 3 cars and 6 bikes. I have no comp, collision, or uninsured motorist on any of them. None of the vehicles are worth it in AZ, where some weird law allows the insurance company to pay you only a fraction of what a vehicle is worth. I have medical insurance from work. I just take the risk with the vehicles. When you have 9 vehicles to register and insure, you have to accept some risk.

I am planning on buying a new car next year, about the time I retire. I will have full coverage on it for about 5 years, after that it will no longer be worth insuring.

I was riding in the car with a friend of mine about 30 years ago (it was a new Mustang GT, and he was seriously speeding) He was also a crop duster. He got pulled over, and the cop asked him for his pilots license, which he had no trouble producing. I remember the cop just having a blank look on his face.
