Everybody is different, but my wife and I both like the ride on the 1800. The performance of the 1800 is much better IMHO. The two bikes feel completely different. I can see why people would refer the older bikes. I think the 1200 and 1500 are both better looking and custom accessories look better on them.
I also like the ride of my 1200 better than I did the 1500. For certain conditions I prefer the ride of the 1200 over the 1800. I wish I still had it. That was a great bike.
We had a decked out 03-1800. We had not even made the first payment when my son totaled it. Luckily we still had the 1200. We then bought a 99 1500 SE due to the cost of another 1800. After taking a couple road trips on the 1500 we both decided that we would like another 1800.
We bought the 05 cheaper than the 03 because we didn't add the chrome and cd player, but neither one was cheap. You only live once and we really like to ride so it was not that hard to pull the trigger either time.
Our first date was a trip on my 1200. I'm still not sure if she fell for me or the wing.:cheeky1:
