I wear ear plugs every time I ride.My hearingsurvived 25 years as an aircraft mechanic because I wore ear plugs and ear protectors (or headsets). I'm not about todestroy my hearing by not wearing ear plugs on the bike.
The plugs block the noise that can destroy hearing, but don't block what's important. I've never failed to hear an emergency vehicle or a car horn. At the gas station orotherwise stopped I can still carry on a conversation.
If you hear ringing in your ears after a long ride, you could be doing irreparable damage.
