I was a Boiler Technician (steam plant operator) in the Navy for twenty + years.
I wore my ear plugs as described and I can tell you for a fact, "It is easier to hear certain types of things, like speech when surrounding "white" noise is removed ie wearing plugs.
PS: I cant still hear a needle dropping after all that time a sea! Never-ever failed a hearing exam!:cheeky1:
