Help,I recently got an 88 1500. The windshield was in bad condition so I ordered a new one that arrived today. I need instructions on how to do the installation. What do I need to remove and how. I did not want to try lifting off the garnish untill I knew if it was like the 1200 I had. I also do not know what else needs to be done. Thank you for any help, Tim
If you do a windshield replace search in the box at the top you'll find a couple narratives on how to do it. Here's a succinct one from our proprietor Steve himself!

I've had the windshield off a 1500 twice however both times I was doing it to remove the instrument cluster. When doing that you need to take the mirrors off, there are three screws in the mirror base, and pull off the trim rings which are just clipped at the bottom. The windshield garnish is held by one screw at each end. The plastic trim that goes below the garnish is also held by a screw at each end. The center of the garnish is hooked, not spring loaded like the 1200 so tip the metal piece forward and unhook it. After that remove the five screws, not that the metal flanged pieces on the outside ends are different than the three in the middle, also the screws are different for those two. When putting these pieces in, make sure the inner sliders are free to move and not pushed out of position.

You're right Browan and of course so is Steve, sounded like he wanted to take a bit more apart! Like I said whe I took the screen off I was going for the instrument cluster.

Hey your a "Senior Guru" you should know all the Islands off the west coast of Ireland. :stumped:
You know very well that Manxblackcat has been hiding the location of the "Isle of Woman" for a long time now and won't divulge the location even to his brothers on the forum!
