Hi...just removed my windshield on my 1997 1500 and would assume it is the same as yours (not sure) . I found that it was best to remove the three phillips screws from the mirror in order to get to the philips screw on each side of your front garnish.
First lift up the release for your windshield, pull back the rubber piece around the mirror, remove the three screws from mirrors, remove screw from each side of front garnish, lift up on the garnishto remove frombracket holding the bottom. There will be five screws holding the windshield in place and five oval shaped washers. Take note thst the two outside ones are deeper. very easy to do and will take max. 15 mins. P.S. plastic trim below mirror is just clipped on on the bottom of the piece.
