windshield replacement

I had used a shortened 17 inch for a while ( see avatar) then went to a 19 and love it for the wind protection it gives me and the wife.... rain can be a problem but I have seen other members use pledge on their windshields and this will make the water slide off of it.

as long as i can just see over the top edge in a rain... And Rain X.. never! Pledge may repel water. but what if..? it was something other than rain. At least i could stiil see. over the top edge. Added saftey ! :realshocked: Allmy rider friends who use windshields say this is the best way to go.. you get two benefits. instead of a possible vision limitation. i have already had to stand on the running boards just to see over the present windshield installed by the PO.. bad situation it was. your suggestion of 19 inches sounds about right. i am getting rid of the big windshield.. knowbuddy [email protected] pm me if you like.

I'm 5 ft 9 and use the stock 21" shield. I can just see over it when it rains or fogs up. I did have a full wrap a round on that was 4 inches taller but it couldn't be seen over and caused too much heat for summer riding so hence the switch back to stock for now.

The stock shield is also adjustable up or down by 2 inches, I have it all the way down.

I can't tell you what height to get but when I was cutting my windshield down the suggested height was level with the tip of your nose.

i was told, that windshields should be at the level of the tip or your nose so you can see over it. mine is a little taller, but being brand new i have no problem with the rain, and even that it is tall the dang drops hit on my face!

I have a Tulsa windshield on my 1200.
The rain usually just blows over the top or
slides off. It is tall enough that I can see through the windshield.
No problems, if it is raining too hard I guess it's time to pull over.

My 1500 came with one of those extra tall windshields. My riding buddies call me the Pope. On my recent trip I did NOT like looking through it when it was raining. However I hear they are great for keeping rain/wind off of the passenger.
