Winter Trip

Alright, came as close as I want to hitting two deer earlier this week :X. So the bike is now winterized and covered up :( the critters are on the move with the farmers, hunters etc bothering them. As winter approaches in Iowa, the older I get the more I hate it.

I am throwing around an idea of loading the bike up around January and going somewhere to breakup the winter agony. Does anyone have any suggestions for about a 5 day trip where it is warm in Jan? I am open to any ideas.
I know, under my blanket with Lucy is warm, but that doesn't count :cooldevil:!

I spent 13 years living in Prescott Arizona and crossed the USA many times in winter. In my experience, anywhere from Interstate 10 south will be tolerably warm in January.

If you're looking for something like "shirt-sleeve" weather, you may be down to the south Texas coast (try Corpus Christi area) or the southern half of Florida? At the risk of major backlash, I'd recommend south Texas and continuing on to Mexico, whose imminent demise has been a bit overblown IMHO.

Southern California can be lovely then, but you'd be icicles trying to get there from Iowa, in winter. Just my two pennies worth! :waving:

Florida is great in January. Lots of local members to ride with also. I can't wait to get my buns down there. Been a cool spring and summer up here in the Great White North.

I think it would take a trip a little longer than 5 days to enjoy the benefits down there though.

Think about it.

If you are looking for just a place to go and ride try here. Not gonna be much night life except for the stars overhead. May be too far for 5 days though.
