I have a 77 gl1000 and if I pull the clutch in while it is in gear it will not do anything. onceI put it in nutrial it will start. what might cause this and if it is a switch or something please tell me where the location of it is at please thanks

The clutch switch is mounted on the bottom of the clutch lever perch. Connect the 2 wires that go to the switch together and see if it will start in gear, with the clutch pulled of course. If it does then replace the switch.

Listen for click when you pull in the clutch lever.
If you don't hear it then the switch is either out of alignment with the tab on the lever, or bad.
Pull back the rubber boot (if so equipped) and have a look while moving the lever.
