As a starter I'd disconnect and clean the battery and cable terminals, ditto the cable attachments to the starter relay and the starter itself. A little corrosion can add enough resistance that the starter won't crank the engine but the lower current drawers like instrument lights and the voltmeter will. I'd also suspect the starter relay itself. Take a good look at the main 30A fuses, the link type fuses can cause these odd happenings.I bought the bike 2 years ago. Not sure ifthe previous ownerreplaced the battery since1998... I have never thought of buying anew batteryfor her til now.
