I had internal air chamber gas leaks + external + flooding. Today, I bought a new OEM air chamber gasket, installed it, along with putting my old OEM fuel seals in each carb, replacing the 'honda rebuild' poor solution of putting flat fuel seals in the carbs, which leaked badly.
I bolted it all up and tested for leaks with an IV type bottle setup feeding into the carb fuel inlet. I kept the float bowl cover off the flooding #1 carb to check the float valve. Sure enough, when pushing up the float to close the valve, no leak. So, knowing the valve seat and needle were good, i just deduced i needed to readjust the float to seat properly on the valve pin at the spec setting of 21mm. Also, no more leaking in the air chamber or externally from the carb bodies!!!
The bike now starts up great, pulls like a bandit, and idles dead even! Wow, like new. I'm so pleased and am really proud of myself for my hard work, research, and careful troubleshooting. I've learned tons, and didn't break down and give up and take it to the mechanic. Thanks for all your help!!
