Had to share this with all. I broke my mirror off at the stem but all was got and no way was the glass coming out without breaking it so I went on this site and asked for help. I got this reply back and it worked.

There is a screw that holds the mirror houseing to the stem. Unless it is totally broke you can put the mirrior head in boiling hot water[mirror in the water before heating it] and safely remove the mirror to access the screw. Take your time and you can get it apart without breaking it.

Take you Time and I used a rounded large butter knife and pushed it flat between the glass and rubber in the water then when it flexed I lifted the glass out slowly at the corner slowly sliding the knife around while still in the water. Use some good gloves that will not get hot. Thank you to Steve Saunders for this site
