WTB: rear wheel for 83 Aspy

i just bought my late father's 83 Aspy, and am on a quest to get it back on the road.

i pulled the rear wheel off to go pick up a new tire this afternoon, and found that the hub is blown out on the brake side. the bearing spins freely within the hub. someone who shouldn't be allowed to own wrenches had been in there, and used a punch to expand the edge of the hub, and that just made things worse. (obviously)

so, i need another rear wheel. i'll fleabay if i have to, but i thought it would be better to start here.

i also need a brake line for the front, but my motto is "one problem at a time"

Can't you put a shim in between the bearing and hub?

There are a number of posts (mine included) about taking the wheel to a machine shop and having the bearing seat trued up and a shim/sleeve installed. Common practice. Took about a day and $150.00.

thanks for all the replies.

the hub is shot. some dipshit took a center-punch and expanded the edge of the hub in four spots in an effort to hold the bearing in. i think it worked long enough to collect some cash and get the bike out of his driveway.

Even if the hub is damaged by punch marks a good machine shop might be able to clean it up and insert a sleeve.
