Hi guys,

Been awhile since I've been here posting.

My question for the day: I want to get XM radio on my 2008 GL 1800. Have many of you had success with FM modulators or am I better off to connect through the Aux cable?

I've been looking at different options, but I'm not sure which one I should pick.:?

I had XM and it was hooked up through the FM and it worked great most of the time.
Sometimes when you travel through different cities you will have to switch the FM station because it is being used. So that's not to bad but kind of annoying.
So if you can hook it up through the aux I would go that route, that way you never have to change anything.

In the truck the aux connector gives better sound quality and, like was already said, no interference from nearby stations.

The FM modulator works okay, but I found too much interference. If you have the luxury, go with the AUX.

I recently installed the Audiovox FM modulator, when you switch it on it completely blocks out any incoming FM signals.
I tried two 20$ FM modulators but had some kind of interference.
A bit pricey but worth it, just needed a $4.00 Y adapter to complete the install.

I used the aux connection with my Sirius radio on my 05. However, the volume of the Sirius radio was much lower than the bikes AM /FM radio. If I swithed from the aux to standard radio without lowering the volume it would get really loud.

Many have issues with alternator whine noise when they use the aux connection. A Ground Loop Isolator will eliminate this problem

I added an Electrical Connection satellite radio interface, it worked great. Fixed my volume issue and provided power to the radio. It also comes with a Ground Loop Isolator.

When I had my Wing, I used the aux connection.
In my truck, I use an FM modulator but have the option of using the aux connection if I wanted to. But I use my mp3 player in my truck also and it needs the aux connection.

My "radio" in my truck has an input power option for low level output devices, such as the mp3 player and the Sirius unit I have.

I just installed satellite radio on my '06. I used aux and it is trouble free, although I initially had an engine whine noise. I got it fixe with some excellent advise from guys on this forum and just got back from 2,900 miles of listening to great music and comedy.Check out this thread for some good info:

I see there is a store 41 miles from you on the Beltway.

I just happened to stop at a bike shop while I was near Indy and had heard of Frys but never had been in one, boy what a toy store

The "Y" adapter was Philmore 44-345 although it was 6 foot long it did away with the very very long phono cable that was in the package.

Not sure about the 1500 but mine resides comfortably in the left side pocket with the cables connecting under the false tank except for the cable that goes to my GPS/MP3 player.

All the cables and the unit fill up the pocket along with a 12v cigarette power outlet for the GPS but I never used the pocket anyway.
