Yamaha is Excellent bikes, check the web for Venture Royale sites like this one, One thing is what year are you looking at? Talking to my local Yamaha dealer a while ago he told me what years to stay away from due to parts availability. I can't remenber but I think he said to stay with 85 and above.

I just got back from looking at the venture, very comfortable bike to drive ,i didn,t find it to top heavy but i am 6'1 225 pounds, the radio and cb are not in it but he does have them and they work,it has an oil leak aaround the top of the engine somewhere but not severe, works good ,totally different ride than the gold wing, the funny thing here is that the guys brother had a 76 wing years ago and he had changed the seat and put a custom seat on it,he still had the original 76 seat, looks almost new no rust on the pan still shiny,no rips or tears and i managed to pick it up for 75 dollars so even if i don,t end up buying the venture it was worth the 3 and a half hours of driving

Ventures are great bikes, the swing arm bearings need to be adjusted every now and again and the muffler gaskets don't seem to hold up very well. Valve adjustment is by shim, if you're unfamiliar this can be time consuming.
