Budegan.......DO NOT WAIT FOR RETIREMENT........DO NOT WAIT!!!!
Did you do the Top of the World Highway out of Dawson City through Action Jackson's, Chicken, and on into Tok Alaska? A road not for the faint of heart, but if your bike survives..:gunhead:...it's worth every bounce, rattle, and shake of every mile!!!! My only regret was when I landed in Fairbanks, I didn't continue up to Prudhoe Bay on the Beaufort Sea/Arctic Ocean. Oh well...I guess that gives me a reason to head back up in June. See North America's highest peak in the Denali Range (Mt.Mckinnley 20,320ft), world's smallest desert at Carcross, Emerald Lake, the deadly Five Finger Rapids that claimed more than onegold seeker,Miles Canyon just outside of Whitehorse.
All kinds of options...Sit in the Hotsprings in Whitehorse, gamble a little in Diamond Tooth Gerties in Dawson City after you put a little stake together from gold panning in the Klondike River, say HI! to the border guard at Boundry, probably been awhile since he saw anyone, have a cinnamon bun the size of a serving platter in Carmacks, take a tundra buggy ride into the icefields of Kluane Park home of Mt.Logan 19,550ft, and home to a perpetual storm that has been raging for centuries, throw the bike on the Ferry in Skagway Alaska, home of scoundrels like Soapy Smith,:cooldevil: and home to hospitality like the Red Onion Saloon, the bordello of the old daysand stop in on some of the islands on the Inside Passage that still have a ton of Russian Heritage...Sitka, Juneau, Wrangel-Petersburgh, Ketchican, and get dropped off in Prince Rupert, Vancouver, or Seattle. You want to know the best part......PACK A TENT....
If you love history, scenery, adventure, and real good people with heart, what can I say.....Go North Young Man!:waving:
