CB radio static

I have the Honda CB radio installed on my 2003,GL1800. Sometimes when I'm receiving a message, I hear static. When I'm standing still the reception is clear. When I'm moving there's static on the receiving end. I'm told that my transmition is clear.

The static isn't continuous, it's sporadic. Are there any ideas out there as to what could be the problem?

I removed the grounding plate, inside the trunk, for the antenna. Cleaned up all the contact points for ground. The two holes where the antenna bolts to, and the hole where the plate bolts to the bottom of the trunk. Haven't had the opportunity to test it out as yet. Thinking that there was a possible grounding problem.

Thanks,

Check your antenna connections or the antenna itself for something coming loose or coming apart.

Also...

An electrical charge can sometimes build up onan antenna when it's traveling through the air or when the wind is blowing, causing static in the receiver. I don't know if that's your problem, but the common fix is to install a high value resistor between the antenna whip and ground such as a 200,000 ohm or higher carbon (not wire-wound) resistor. RF will see it as open, but the DC static chargeis shunted to ground and doesn't make it to your reciever's front end.

Best of luck,
