do you wear gloves?

Do you wear gloves all the time when you ride? I wore gloves most of the time but this year I started wearing gloves all the time even if it is just a run around the block. Earlier this year I had a little spill. I wasn't able to ride for a month afterwards. When I went to put on my gloves I noticed the entire back of the left glove looked like it had been held up to a grinding wheel.. I had a lot of aches and bruises but not a moment of discomfort on my hand.
I also found last year than the more I wore my gloves the less my eczema on my knuckles acted up.

I have several pairs of deer skin work gloves from Wells Lamont. Got them at Farm & Fleet so you know the price is reasonable. Deer skin is thinner than cow hide and dries soft not stiff when you get them wet. They are natural color so the black dye doesn't dye your hand. I also have a lined pair for cooler weather.

What do you use?

I use Wells Lamont work gloves too. I use the black ones that are lined with red in the winter. I use the white Ladies calve-skin gloves during the warmer weather sometimes... It's hard to find those white Ladies gloves in a large... Mostly no gloves during the summer. It's just too hot.

In the deep winter I use Craig's Hippo Hands. Gloves alone (of any kind) are not enough.

I use work gloves - the kind that are made of 'spandex' with leather re-enforcements at the finger tips, palms, knuckles, etc... The new style ones they sell at hardware stores. They are really comfortable, they breath very well and offer protection. I wear them ALL the time - ATGATT!

I sometimes wear gloves, but mostly when it's cold. I have some unlined deer hide gloves I sometimes wear when it isn't cold, but I just don't like to wear gloves.

I am a retired police officer. I remember taking what was called peak performance driving as in service training. They recommended you wear gloves even though it was warm weather. We tried the course with and without gloves. The gloves made a huge difference. Now a lot of that doesn't apply to bikes but always stayed at the back of my mind. I do find my throttle hand doesn't fatigue when I wear a glove.

My thoughts exactly. I feel more naked without gloves than my M/C jacket.
How are you going to pick the gravel out of your butt if one hand can't hold the tweezers and the other can't hold the mirror?

I always wear gloves. Had a pair of First Gear gloves that I wore for several years. My wife made me buy new ones at a bike show that I lost within two months. The ones I have now are from Mills Fleet Farm and are a perforated leather. I also have a pair of lined gloves too for cooler weather. And now I have heated handlebars!

I wear them not only for protection in a fall but also in the event of rocks or large bugs hitting my hands.

Got a pair of mesh gloves I picked up at Cycle Gadgets a year before they closed that I love.
Not too hot in the summer and ok in fall until it gets too cold.
Can't remember the brand and can't find any labels.
Wear 'em all the time when riding.
Had my "learning experience' a long time ago and haven't forgotten it.

Like Jobe several pairs of different gloves only if it's raining or cold (under 55F).

Have never found a pair of gloves that fit right and with some nerve damage prefer as much feel of the grips as I can

I will not ride without:
1- Helmet
2- Long pants
3- Long sleeves
4- Gloves
I have three different pair for differing weather and always have two of the three with me.

I once had a spill where I slid along with the bike for about 25 meters with my left hand pinned to the tarmac by the bar-end. Thanks to the gloves I only suffered a bruised thumb. I *never* ride without gloves.

I don't like to ride w/o gloves. Had done it once or twice but told myself how stupid it was. "Only going down to the post office a half mile away"......
yep, and 300 yards of gravel in between.

In warm weather I fill the gloves with water and get them good and wet before a ride. This provides some cooling for the whole body.

I always wear gloves, because if something bad happens, I still want to be able to at least type and bug you guys even if the rest of me can't move for a while!

.

I wear deerskin gloves most of the time and keep spares in the trunk. Usually one set per short riding season up here. The sun bleaches the tops and the palms get black from the grips. Then they become my new work gloves. The next year I start riding with a new pair.

I have heated gloves which I will use for the shoulder seasons, I do like them.

Rarely do I ride without gloves.

Like several have posted, I run three different sets of gloves. My summer gloves are full finger with mesh in areas where allowed.

If I have to roll around on the ground I want my hands to be useable when I'm done. I need them for my work.

and yeah, that gravel-picking thing.........did that once...............

That's a nice looking glove and the price seems reasonable. Let us know what they're like after a little use. You know, fit, air flow, comfort, etc.

Gloves: Always.

Hands are delicate and there's a few things you don't want someone else doing for you while wait to have the skin grafts heal :waiting:

Yep me too! Always! I have three pairs of gloves, a pair of leather perforated gloves for summer, gaunleted deerskin for most cool weather riding and a pair of Gerbings leather electrically heated gloves for cold weather.
There isn't much over your hand bones but skin so it doesn't take much road rash to do serious damage. I think riding without gloves is just plain foolish.

I find my hands tire more when I wear gloves. I prefer not to wear gloves, but I'll occasionally wear my fingerless ones, and I have real nice leather gloves with gauntlets for cold weather I bought last year.
