I am in search of a RH cylinder head from an '86 or '87 GL1200. Can the heads off of an '84 or '85 be used on an '87 motor? :?

Boxerdad, another thing to consider. The exhaust headers are differnt on 84-85 than they are on 86-87. That could be due to different heads or slightly different engine location. I would check with Honda and see if they know. Honda changes part numbers when they change manufacturers.

Hi, one thing to consider is where the head is from. I bough some heads from the US and they had additional holes probably for emission control.

I only realized the difference once the head was replaced so in order to fix this differenceIcloggedboth tubes comming from the holes and it works fine so far.

To resume, make sure to check if you need holesclose to the intake manifold.

I had the same thing on my engine I just bought from an american gentleman. I used a 1/8" pipe tap and plugs to fill in the holes. We then machined up some fancy looking caps to fill in the holes left behind..
