If you have the right gear, including a trolley jack and a reasonably competent helper, you can have it changed and on the road in a day.

Changing engines is fairly simple if you have some basic mechanical ability, however I wouldnt give up on your original engine too quickly. Goldwing engines typically run without major problems for a very long time. How many miles are on your engine? Does it work ok?Does it burn excessive amounts of oil?Can you better describe the noise that you hear ( which part of engine do you hear the noise from)and do youhave any maintenance history? The noise or growl you hear may possibly be something minor andcan be repaired easily or it may be nothing at all as one shop suggested.I would suggest that you investigate a little further before writing the original engine off and perhaps spending a lot of money that you dont have to............and then if you determine that the engine has some major internal problems for sure go looking for a good replacement............GM
